Frontline Worker Pay Coalition

Dear Frontline Worker Pay Coalition:

This morning, the Governor’s Office and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) announced the following updates about the Frontline Worker Pay Program:

The 1,025,655 Minnesota workers who worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 peacetime emergency, and applied and met all eligibility requirements of the Frontline Worker Pay Program, will receive a payment of $487.45 beginning Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Approved applicants who chose to receive payment via ACH direct deposit will see funds deposited within seven to 10 business days; those who chose to receive payment via debit card will be mailed their funds within three to four weeks.

On behalf of Temporary Commissioner Nicole Blissenbach, DLI thanks you for the incredible work the coalition has done to help us promote, support and help workers apply for Frontline Worker Pay. We appreciate and recognize the deep commitment, advocacy, application assistance and ongoing collaborative work you and your organizations have engaged in on behalf of Minnesota’s frontline workers.

It is important to us to reach as many eligible frontline workers as possible, so we are translating many of our materials into Hmong, Somali and Spanish. Juneteenth

Juneteenth is a newly recognized Holiday this year for Council employees. The Juneteenth Holiday will be handled the same way MLK Day is handled in that it is a working holiday. If an employee would like to take this day in conjunction with vacation, the employee must use vacation by the week and can elect to receive holiday pay or float the holiday.

Because of the timing of the implementation of the Juneteenth Holiday all regular services such as customer relations and transit information will operate on a regular schedule while the Mail Room, Overhaul Base, and Radio/Electronic shops will be closed on the recognized Juneteenth day, Monday, June 20, 2022.

If you work in an office setting and are unsure whether of not your office will be closed on June 20, 2022, please contact your immediate supervisor for clarification.

Cracks in a building next to the Southwest Corridor light rail project have dealt another blow to the beleaguered transit line.

Residents of the Cedar Isles condominiums in Minneapolis say cracks have appeared on eight separate floors of the building, right beside the construction site where crews are building a tunnel to accommodate the trains planned to run 14 ½ miles from downtown Minneapolis to Eden Prairie.
